תוס' ד"ה ונימא

And he should say; there is no Toom’oh of hands and utensils in the Beis HaMikdosh - ונימא אין טומאת ידים וכלים במקדש

Summary
According to ר"ע (that טומאת משקין לטמא אחרים דאורייתא) the משקין בית מטבחיא is מטמא even כלים. The גזירת י"ח דבר was (perhaps after רחס"ה, but) before the time of ר"ע.

תוס' ד"ה תרוייהו

They were both decreed on the same day - תרוייהו בו ביום גזרו

Summary:
ר"ע was gratified that at the י"ח דבר they did not enact טומאת ידים במקדש, so why did he also not mention that they did not enact טומאת כלים במקדש ‘on that day’.

Summary:
The knife presumably did not come in contact with משקין.

It is seemingly necessary that we are discussing a רה"ר on account of טומאת ידים.

Let us see; this needle is something which has no mind to be asked - מכדי האי מחט דבר שאין בו דעת לישאל הוא

The exemption of אין בו דעת applies only to the דבר המתטמא not to the מטמא.
